Courtyard games are the first of the activies and begin on Monday. The classes compete against each other. There is a rootbeer chug, tug of war (Noah did this game), and a few others for them to do. This happens during lunch at school and parents don't usually go to these! On Tuesday, the students who were voted to the Homecoming court are notified! Noah was elected to be the Homecoming Prince and his date the princess!! It was awesome!! We were so excited for him.
The first chance we have to see any of this is with Homecoming Corners! Thursday night in the gym each class takes a corner and decorates it according to the theme. This year 's theme was countries. The seniors had the United States, Juniors had Italy, Sophomores had England and Freshmen had France. The corners were great this year. Although the poor freshmen got a late start since they only (like two weeks ago) elected their class officers who lead this.
When I walked into corners night there was so much going on! There was a flurry of activity. I saw Noah up on the bleachers putting tape onto something! I noticed their Eiffel Tower, the french poodles and the Parisian cafe. With the flag of France behind! Noah was happily working with friends around him. I did another scan of the room and found the seniors, who seemed to be blitzing to get their work done! They had a huge map of the United States down on the floor and they were beginning to place the iconic US signs in their proper places. They had the Washington Monument, the Vegas sign, the Hollywood sign, an eagle, and a great map of Maryland on the state of Maryland. And they had a Cougar dome....so much Cougar pride! They also had altered the route 66 idea to reflect the road to graduation with a route 2014. It was so fun seeing their creativity! Tobin was busy working when I noticed him; Tobin and Dakota were all working on the American flag. They did a lot of work in that last hour! The juniors had Italy and they definitely had the wow factor with a life sized gondola but the seniors had so much detail in their corner; you could tell they thought a lot about it.
